Aloha Island Inc. is a local video game and software developer based out of Honolulu dedicated to promoting education with their innovative games and programs. From a game that teaches preschoolers how to spell to a game that teach third graders how to do simple math, Aloha Island has designs to tackle all early learning education on all game platforms. Their current project is a role-playing game for the Nintendo DS that aims to make the player a better reader by expanding their vocabulary. Staffed by seasoned veterans of the games industry – including a number of employees formerly of Konami – management includes Mark Loughridge, a founder and former co-chairman of Foundation 9 Entertainment (F9E), the largest independent game developer in the world.

Since its inception over a year and a half ago, Aloha Island has aimed to be a valuable member of the community by employing high tech professionals, sponsoring lectures by digital media experts, and sponsoring a booth at the Book and Music Festival where children created their own hard cover books. As Aloha Island continues to grow and marry software, games and education in fun and exciting ways, they are always on the lookout for other local companies interested in partnering on educational projects.
